May 21, 1915-January 8, 2015 Highland Falls, NY Louie A. Pelella, age 99 of Highland Falls NY entered into eternal rest on January 8, 2015. Louie was born on May 21, 1915 in Walden, NY. His parents were the late John and Antoinetta Martinisi Pelella. Louie was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Iceland and mainland Europe. A fellow soldier and friend introduced him to his sister Naomi Kelleher, whom he married in May of 1964. Louie retired from both the Cadet Mess Hall in West Point and Letchworth Village, Stony Point where he worked as a Chef. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church of Highland Falls where he served as Usher for more than 50 years, right up until his death. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Highland Falls VFW, a Life Member of Orange County Volunteer Fireman's Association, Hudson Valley Fireman's Association, Fireman's Association of New York State, and a Life Member of the HFFD. His proudest achievement was his 67 years of service in the Highland Falls Fire Department, where he was an active participant responding to calls and worked on fundraisers until very recently. He is survived by his daughters, all of Highland Falls: Maria A. Pelella, Louise I. Mott and her husband, Brad, and Martha A. Pelella; his grandsons: Bradley, Brian and Benjamin Mott; his sisters: Mafalda McKinna and Martha Dunn; his sister-in-law, Lena Pelella and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Louie was predeceased by his wife, Naomi, and his brothers: Eugene and Mario Pelella. |
